Frequently Asked Questions

What happens next?

Once you have contacted me we will discuss your child's needs and how I can help you and your child. This initial discussion is free of charge. I will then come and do an initial assessment at a time that is convenient for you, which involves taking a case history and carrying out an appropriate assessment. I will then write a report for you about your child's communication skills and make recommendations.

How frequent are the therapy sessions?

As every child is different the amount can vary from a few sessions to several blocks of sessions. We will discuss this after my initial assessment.

Where will the therapy take place?

I am flexible and can carry out the sessions either at your home or in the school/nursery setting. One setting may be more appropriate than the other or a mixture of both may be recommended.

Can I still access my local NHS Speech Therapy service?

Absolutely. Everybody should have access to an NHS therapist. If you choose to have both an NHS therapist and myself, I will work very closely with your NHS therapist to ensure we best meet your child's needs. I also work in the NHS so I am very familiar with the settings and procedures.

What will speech and language therapy cost?

A fee structure is available on request. Please contact me for more information.
